About the Minnesota Central Model Railway
Albany 'Great Northern' Depot
The Minnesota Central Model Railway Club was founded in 1987 after several years of operating as a modular layout group.
We were first located at the West Gate Shopping Center in St. Cloud.
We then moved to Midtown Mall in St. Cloud and occupied a shop on the upper level.
In August of 1988, we moved into a 30 x 32 foot room at the rear of the R & R Hobbies store in the Centennial Plaza Shopping Center in St. Cloud where we built and operated a permanent layout until December of 1992.
MCMR uses Digitrax DCC equipment for operating trains.
Our ALBANY DEPOT LAYOUT is located in the renovated Great Northern Depot Building on the Stearns County Pioneer Club Grounds in Albany, MN.
Normally open weekly on scheduled nights from APRIL to OCTOBER. This location is usually closed in winter months (NOVEMBER-MARCH)

The Albany layout occupies a 23 x 50 foot room and already has more than 1,000 feet of HO-Scale main-line track. In addition there is more than 1,000 more feet of sidings.
The theme of the MCMR layout is "Central Minnesota" sometime after the late 1950's. Our center piece for the viewing public to see is Main Street in Albany.
